Viewpoint tutorial- page 7

From my example, you have a long gown body to play with, and put as many skins as you want. But what if you want another body to skin? Easy enough...

You need Aladrian Kahlan's skin2obj program.

For simplicity's sake, I generally use the body files that come with skinshow, just because it's easier than digging through all the files in my sims folder.

Use skin2obj as directed on his homepage, and you will get yourself an obj and mtl file... just throw that into viewpoint the same as the other :) One thing to note, you WILL have to open the .mtl file in notepad.

usually the mtl file will have some silly long mess instead of a simple bmp... just change it to whatever.bmp.

Then build the scene as before.

Now this will give you a sim in a default pose.... arms sticking straight out. You say you want a cuter pose? Unfortunately, you can't use the default sims animations, but you CAN import the file into milkshape (chumbalum soft's bargain 3-d modeler) or whatever 3d program you use and then move it around, rotate the arms, legs, etc, into whatever pose you like :D (usually it's best to just make ONE good pose you love, then use that for all your skins, unless you are a workaholic ) Make sure you remember to include the head & hands when you are editing in Milkshape, otherwise they won't "line up." and remember to export the body, head, & hands separately if you are going to be using different skins on the different parts.

And that is pretty much it! There is a lot of "playing around" you can do, just have fun with it!
